With Mexican Roots
This magical town was the place where General Ignacio Allende was born; who was one of the founders of the independence movement and one of its most beloved leaders.
He helped San Miguel become the first town to declare independence from Spain in 1811.
Later in 1826, the city was renamed "San Miguel de Allende" in his honor.
